Richard H. Wingard, Sr. Biography
Richard (Rick) Wingard, Sr. has been a serious amateur photographer for more than 40 years.
Rick’s professional photography career started shortly after attending Kellogg Community
College where he studied under successful photographers Shurichi Murakami from Japan and
Ryan Flathau of Battle Creek.
His studies included 35 mm film photography with black and white darkroom developing, and
advanced classes in digital photography and digital editing.
Rick’s work has been displayed long-term in the KCC Arts building and displayed at 17 West.
He was selected to participate in the juried 2007 Artists in the Work Place Exhibit sponsored by
the Arts and Industrial Council (Calhoun County) which resulted in several print sales.
Rick has accepted commission work on various private projects.
Volunteer photography services have been provided by Rick to the Harper Creek High School
Marching Band and Band Boosters. Many of his photographs have been published in the year
book, football program, concert band program and many newsletters. For several years he
facilitated a photo fund raiser for the Marching Band.
In 2002, Rick began casually photographing weddings for family and friends. With the success
of these weddings and the encouragement of all, he began excepting professional wedding
assignments by word-of-mouth referral. He has successfully built his wedding photography
business by anticipating, being responsive to and accommodating the needs of his bridal
parties.
